I am in the creativity business, which is really about solving problems. I learned long ago that as a creative problem solver and collaborator, my job as a creative leader is to help people and teams develop ideas, frameworks, and platforms that produce wins for the business and their efforts.
My task as a creative person is to serve as a catalyst, sherpa, and explorer, providing and uncovering new perspectives and inflection points. Helping people and organizations develop ideas, experiences, tools, and technologies creates a better understanding that motivates and enables people to take action.
I have found that the best solutions/ideas come from the energy produced by collaborating with people. Rooted in uncovering insights that coalesce into actionable strategies. These can lead to innovative and unique solutions and experiences that change culture and outcomes. The goal is to make the work better, but even more, to make the people and teams more powerful in what they do and the confidence they bring.
My title for most of my career has been Creative Director; however, I learned quickly that my superpower (and perhaps correct job title) was a Catalyst. I have used anything from cards to workshops to ideation session methodologies and even taught how to model and utilize thinking frameworks to try and explore and develop the best methods that work for a team.
If I can teach a person or group to look for new paths to uncover possibilities, they can repeat it and continue to grow and transform creative cultures.
I have been lucky enough to work within almost every agency model, from pure play to digital, to CRM, integrated brand shops, and on to business consultancies and client side in corporate SaaS sales. Along the way, I have learned the many languages and cultures within, and I love seeing how we can bring teams and companies together to find a way to uncover their language of winning for the business and themselves.
Give me a shout if you want to start a dialogue about how we can solve some problems in creative new ways.
